A Subtle Turning Point

August 20th, 2008 by Jeff Cross

Play That Funky Music, White Boy!

I’ve been doing a lot of playing around with light and post processing lately. I am really enjoying the creative freedom I am experiencing. I still have a lot to learn and am looking forward to pursuing this look and style.

If you’re interested, check www.jeffcrossphoto.com to see any updated scene/photos that I may have completed recently. Currently, there is only one photo on the site (if you can call it a “site”).

If anything exciting comes out of this project that I want to spread the word about, I will post updates here. Otherwise, if you have a free moment, visit www.jeffcrossphoto.com and see if anything catches your eye.

Using Strobes and Loving It!

May 26th, 2008 by Jeff Cross

Exploring, tweaking, testing, refining, learning, etc. What else is a photographer to do?! At Fruitful Studios, we are having so much fun playing with new gear and thinking of ways to incorporate such gear and techniques into our client’s photo sessions.

We have been playing with new lighting techniques, and while it does take a little longer to get a shot setup, I think that our clients will like the outcome of such shots. The techniques we have been experimenting with incorporates multiple flashes, a.k.a. strobes. We at Fruitful Studios love the results and depth this technique gives our photos taken in this manner.

We set the strobes in different Using Strobes for Lighting outdoorslocations and take into consideration the angle of the sun to provide for a well lit scene. The results we have been getting are incredible, in our opinion, and the journey into alternative lighting methods should only make for a better product each and every time we shoot in this fashion.

The Portfolio has been updated with a number of shots that were taken using these lighting techniques. Please take a look through the last page or so in the Ladies section of the portfolio as I believe you will be impressed with the progress we are making. Like I said before, placing the different strobes around the subject does take a little longer than just pointing and shooting, but the end result is much better and we hope you all agree.

If you would like to schedule a shoot with Fruitful Studios, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are looking forward to doing many fun and interesting shoots this Summer and hope you will be a part of it. From vehicles, individuals, children, and families, we can provide you with lasting memories in a photographic form. Whatever your photography needs are, Fruitful Studios is here to provide you with a top-notch service at an affordable price!

Shooting at Night

May 18th, 2008 by Jeff Cross

Shooting at NightI have been working on a couple of techniques for getting better clarity in my night shots. Night shots make for interesting light scenes and allow for different moods and atmosphere than you achieve in daylight shoots. Lorie and I went downtown and started shooting a little bit using some of these new techniques and ideas.

The lighting effects created by the strobes (again, more on that in a later post) is impressive. The light scenes also give you some interesting possibilities for post processing to create really moody images. The darkness surrounding the subject also puts the spotlight (pun intended) on them and makes the subject matter really stand out while only a hint of the background is still in play.

I look forward to doing more of these types of shoots and actually have a vehicle shoot scheduled for the near future that we will do at night. Learning these new techniques really gives Fruitful Studios‘ clients a lot of options when they are deciding what type of setting or mood they hope to capture.

From the streets to the fields, using backdrops indoors to flashes at night, Fruitful Studios is ready to capture your most memorable moments! We look forward to working with you and hope you’ll contact us soon to schedule your next photo shoot!
